Pros and cons about a career in management information systems or computer science? We Answered:
The problem with MIS is that it is a management oriented degree. The reason colleges like offering MIS is that because it is general and about management principles it never is obsoleted by technology changing. In the Bachelors program I graduated from we had courses in Windows Server 3.0, 3.1 and 4.0 before we got out of the class. The specifics were changing so fast that they could barely decide on what book to use to teach the courses before it was obsolete. Most managers that are around in IT are past in the trenches systems engineers or others that have stayed around the field long enough to arrive at those positions via promotion. Give them a few project planning courses and some change management courses and bang they are effective managers.
So I would say it is better to go for Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or another emphasis along those lines.

How fun is a computer science career? We Answered:
It's all up to you whether or not a career in Computer Science is fun. If you enjoy problem solving and math then you'll fall in love with computer scienceAccording to nextSTEP Magazine that focuses on college and career, a Computer Software Engineer makes, on average, $79,995 per year and a Network System and Data Communication Analyst makes, on average, $63,918 per year. This tells you that a career in Computer Science is very rewarding and if you really love computers and math, it'll be fun.
Some major companies that you might work for are Microsoft, IBM, and Google. There are hundreds of companies that need individuals that have knowledge of computer science/information system because without them, the future of technology might come to a halt.
