Available Jobs For College Students

Salvador Said:

Is there any call center jobs available to 1st year college students in the philippines?

We Answered:

actually, qualifications may vary, but it's more on showing your attitude and dedication towards the job. in addition, if you nail the exams, interviews and everything else, sometimes, you have to be at least a college student in order to join the workforce.

if you are currently not enrolled, then you could actually apply for a position in the BPO industry just as long as you are qualified for the post. by all means, apply. after all, you will never find out if you don't try, even if you're an undergrad. usually, they'll give phone interviews, one-on-one interviews, or panel interviews, depending on client needs. usually there's an exam for english grammar, US culture and the whole shebang..they could give you exams on technical knowledge. if you happen to be qualified, you could be in!

but if you plan to be a working student, some call centers could be skeptic as working students are statistically one of the main reasons for attrition. just make sure that you are able to handle the pressure and stress in the environment. there are some contact centers that are considerate in terms of adjusting to your preferred schedule (if studying), but bear in mind that you are there to work (and is actually paid to report to work at any time), and some clients could be slave drivers, and may get your hands tied because of the demands entailed.

but don't fret. i am not discouraging you, but that's how this works.

good luck with your endeavor and hopefully, be able to finish college :D

What are some good paying jobs available for a college student?

We Answered:

Short answer: it depends on your skills.

If you have any computing skills, do a search on dice.com (http://dice.com/). Search on the name of whatever program or skill you have.

If you have excellent written communication skills and know Microsoft Office really well - especially Access, Excel or PowerPoint - you can probably get a part-time office job.

If you are very outgoing, friendly and persuasive, look into sales - and I don't mean the kind where you stand in a store, I mean B2B or "inside" sales, where you sell services or products for a single company to other companies. This can be very high paying, though they might prefer graduates who can work full-time.

Advertising sales can be very lucrative, too, if you're good at it and not easily discouraged. Check your college directory to see if they have "yellow page" advertising and coupons for local businesses; if so, they probably have a staff of students selling that advertising.

If you notice a recruiting firm that seems to have a lot of the kind of job you're after, call them up directly and let them do some of your job hunting for you. Temp or "contracting" firms such as Manpower are a good place to start, too.

Good luck!
