I just brought a cool slingback Jansport backpack from one of my school's bookstores. It's totally awesome. I checked it out and put my textbooks in it, and it really balances the weight on your back. The backpack I'm referring to is shaped like a triangle. It comes in awesome colors, but it's like $50.
Anyway, any backpack will be okay, just be sure to carry only the things you need for class and be kind to your back. It sucks walking around campus with an aching back all day.

I had an HP Laptop backpack, but the straps broke after my first semester....surprisingly cheap for $65....

Then I bought a Swissguard backpack, and that is doing pretty well.

Bottom Line: Don't buy something cheap, buy something that will last long and take care of it so it does.
