Personally, when I was in college the best time to look for work is right around when school ended. A lot of students go back to their hometown for Summer break.

As for where to look, I believe the best job for a student is to be a restaurant server/busser. I started out as a busser and moved my way up to server, then bartender, then assistant manager. Having a restaurant job you get a lot of tips for working shorter hours and that was great for me in college. I think when you factor it in you make about $15-$20 hour because of tips.

I have always tried to get work-study, you have to do work such as filing for maybe an hour and then the rest of your shift you can do homework. It only pays minimum wage but you really don't do much. If you don't qualify for work study , most schools have other programs for you to find work. Go to the financial aid department or go to the career work force center at your school. They are very helpful and know a lot when it comes to finding part time jobs for students. Hope I helped!
