Cheap car insurance for a non owner vehicle college student?

We Answered:

With all due respect, this gets asked many times every day and there's no answer to it... however it isn't all doom and gloom...

Try getting a quote online or from a local broker. I am paying less than ½ of what I was paying before.

Good or Bad Idea about car insurance: I am a broke college student with a $200 car payment a month.........?

We Answered:

As long as you're prepared to fork over $1000 when you are in an accident, its a good idea. If you can save $100 per month, you just have to go for five months without an accident and you'll break even. Go longer without an accident, and you're saving money.

BE SURE that you have $1000 to pay for your deductible, though, if you get in an accident.

best car insurance for a college student?

We Answered:

$78 a month is a damn fine rate for a 20 year old.

There's no shortcut, though - to find the cheapest rate for you, you have to shop around. Don't bother with all the spam links you'll get as a result of this question - they only want to harvest your personal information to sell it.

looking for afordable car insurance for college student?

We Answered:

Your best deal is not in quoting with multiple agents or companies. Your best price comes when you are insured with your parents. In that case you get substantial MULTI-CAR discount and (assuming your parents own a house) very substantial home discount. If your parents have professional discount (engineer, Doctor, firefighter, etc.) you will get it too.

All together you are looking at 30-50% saving just for being insured with them. So, whatever comparisons you make following other advice, please, make sure you also compare to being on your parents policy.

What is the best CAR insurance for an 18yr old college student who is away from home?

We Answered:

By best, I'm going to assume you mean company, rather than coverages. Coverages will depend on more than your age and where you live. I would visit with a State Farm agent near where you are currently living. You can locate an agent on www.statefarm.com. They will not only be able to give you quotes, but offer excellent suggestions on how to protect yourself and your belongings against other losses.
