However it is probably best to speak with a student counselor at the college and she or he will inform you of the steps that you need to take in order to accomplish your goal and make you aware of any deadlines for completeing paperwork as far as applications and registration goes.

I think you should go straight to a 4-year university instead going to a 2-year college and then the 4-year university.
Here's why, I went to a 2-year college in Virginia and got all my requirement fulfilled. Then transfer to a 4-year college and is now going to be a senior this coming school year. And to tell you the truth, my schedule for my senior year sucks so badly because all the classes that I'm going to sign up for are ALL engineering, no electives at all to balance out the workload because i have already fulfilled them in the 2-year college. So have I have to take 16 credits for the Fall & Spring semester, each. And I'm planning to apply for an internship during that school year, but I don't see it happening because the workload is ridiculous, since our last year as an Engineer we have to do a semester worth of research and another semester worth of putting together the research as a Senior project for graduation.

So I would advise you to go straight to a 4-year so that your electives & core classes can be schedule evenly, because i had it easy in the 2-year college with mostly all elective classes, and now have to work my butt off for the core classes.

I heard Stanford is good but i have never been there.
If you want to go to an elite school for engineers, try MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)

I've been told that New York state has hte lowest tution rates in all of America. You;d have to be a resident for at least one year before being able to get tte low in-state tution. Good colleges include, Sullivan County Community college, which as dorms, and some which don't. Orange County Community college and Ulster County Community college are pretty good deals, though they dont have dorms. They're about $2100 for a semester.
