Credit Cards College Students

Lori Said:

How do i find student credit cards for college?

We Answered:

The first and easiest place to start would be online. A great website that focuses solely on college student credit cards is www.studentcreditcards.com - and it is reliable. StudentCreditCards.com features a selection of top college card issuers for comparison with instant access to their online applications. It is important to note that you should educate yourself on the proper way to build a strong credit profile. Do not apply for multiple student credit cards as each application counts against your credit score as a credit inquiry. Take your time and involve your parents in the application process. Good luck.

Why hasn't the government passed a law limiting credit cards given to college students or lower income folks?

We Answered:

Credit card companies are in business to make money just like every other business in the world.

If someone is over their head in debt, the only person to blame is the one looking back at them from the mirror.

what's the best credit card to get for college students?

We Answered:

When starting out, I advise to go to your credit union first, or any bank that you may have a prior relationship with, such as checking and savings or cd etc., banks are now using a lot of different types of score estimators to determine their decision to extend credit. Things like what your deposit habits are like etc. Although your FICO™ Score and income plus credit report will be the primary decision maker ultimately.

If you don't have ANY cards, this is your best route for your first card. DO NOT carry over 7% of your credit limit on the card. Ideally, paying off your balance in full each month will yield good results until your credit becomes more established, This avoids interest, and keeps your debt to credit ratio low.

OH and by the way...don't ever close a credit card/revolving account. this will drop your score tremendously...trust me. Be careful about the cards you choose from onset and you'll be fine. The cards I first opened, will be with me until I die.

Closing the account will lower you average account age. shortening your credit history essentially, and lowering your score, although it will recover (eventually) it's not worth the hit. Instead if you come to a point you don't want that particular card anymore, then just pay it off as normal, then don't use it. except for once every 3-4 months or so, then pay it off in full again, that way the creditor won't close your card on you, for being dormant. lol ??s??o?d ? ?uop ?,? ?o oops, sorry that was upside down again. i must be tired. lol.

Best Credit Card for College Students?

We Answered:

The MTVU card is made especially for college students and gives discounts and points at lots of stores and movie theaters. It isn't that hard to get and if you pay off your balance each month the interest rate won't really matter.

Rick Said:

are there any credit cards available for 17 year old college students?

We Answered:

When my son went to college, I got him a Capital One credit card. They have ones especially for youth. As a parent though, I had to be a cosigner on it. I was also allowed to limit the amount of available credit he had on the card.
