Debate Topics For College Students

Joe Said:

Topic ideas for a debate between the Secular Student Alliance and Baptist College Ministry affiliates?

We Answered:

Either topic can be fun, but ultimately your success in the debate will boil down to whether your opponents are attempting to defend the existence of the Christian version of "God," or whether they're attempting to defend the existence of a "Supreme Being." If this debate is Atheism vs Theism, then the best you can logically acheive is a draw, since both positions are logically tenable. If your opponents attempt to argue the Christian position, however, you cannot lose.

The existence of the Christian version of "God," is actually logically disprovable, based on logical contradictions in "Its" description in the Bible. Stick to basic logic, and study Christian Presuppositional Apologetics. The Bible must be evaluated using the same standards of human logic and reason that are used to evaluate the claims of ANY book. Always remember that human logic and reason are the ONLY forms of logic and reason that we currently know actually exist, no matter what ANY book or ANYONE claims to the contrary.

The Christian position is based on the logically flawed premise/presupposition that their version of a "God" actually exists, and that the Bible is "His Word." This is not a logically sound position, since it assumes that certain claims in the Bible which contradict human logic are somehow SUPERIOR to human logic and reason. This type of logically flawed premise can be used to defend the existence of ANY version of a Supreme Being (or Beings), not just the Christian version. It is neither logically valid nor sound, but is rather nothing more than a religious opinion (and a logically disprovable one at that)! Why would anyone worship a "Being" whose existence is logically disprovable, no matter how strong your opinion?

If you ever need any help logically countering Christian claims, feel free to email me. And, by all means - have fun in your debate!
