Now I have heard of a 3G contract deal where they give you a free netbook, but that is about it. I know of several of there deals in the UK, but in my country of the USA for some reason.

There are a few universities which include a laptop in the cost of tuition, but unless you go to one of those schools, you will have to pay for a laptop (which, by the way, aren't too much more expensive than a semester's textbooks any more). After all, students are one of the best markets for computer companies, so why would they give them away to students for free?

Apply for financial aids, if you're from a low income family. Besides paying for your tuition fees, you're usually left with a few grands to spend on your schooling needs. Technically, you can use those money to buy whatever suits your needs. Go grab a Macbook Pro for the looks, or a Dell for some productivity. Too bad Black Friday deals are gone though.
