The right name's Cain and Abel.. and i used it before for decrypting passwords but never for network sniffing. I'd use ethereal for that instead. Anyways, its rare to to find passwords through sniffing as such since most websites use SSL nowadays for transmission of sensitive info.. good luck anyways.

here's the howto as i figure it:
1.fire up cain n abel
2.click on configure on the menu and make sure that ur ethernet adapter is listed there
3.goto sniffer tab
4.click on activate sniffer <second icon from left>
