Grants For First Generation College Students

Loretta Said:

Should I feel sorry for my mother and financially support her?

We Answered:

I don't think you should feel sorry about your mother. You should feel gratitude. She pretty much gave you everything. I am a first generation college student and my siblings can't get over that. 34k a year is just about the poverty level. If you work with your mom, you could help each other and have less stress to get by. I used to take care of my mom for at least a third of the time...She died and I will never regret anything 'cause I did everything I could have. Feel happy that she's still around and cares for you. Help each other. That would be a good thing. Take Care!

I didn't qualify for any grants do i have to quit school?

You are not having a great time are you? I can work out what you mean even though the question got printed the wrong way round.

Consider, Will the bachelors degree, if you go on, make enough difference in your wage to make the delay in starting work worth the wait?

I would not give up on the degree altogether. An employer may even support you with your further education. If it becomes an asset to the company.

Sadly, we women do have to choose between early motherhood and our education too often.

Insufficient funds puts a far greater strain on relationships than any thing. I would opt for getting a job. For now.
