No, you are smart doing it slowly like you said. That is also my plan. I have my associates, going for my bachelors online. Many, if not most of the associate to bachelor nursing programs are online these days which make it very convenient for those of us who have to work. You can also chose your class load unlike with the associate program, which works out well so you dont get overwhelmed!

CNA would be the shortest program, but it doesn't tie into the PA program very well and is pretty low prestige (about the lowest level of care-giver that you can find).

EMT would be your next bet, but it would probably take you 6 - 12 months to complete a program and get licensed. That might work for you if you really want to the time out of your college studies, or may interfere with your long-range plans more than you'd like. But the plus of doing that is it may give you a means of earning some pocket money while prior to starting your PA program. Once you actually start a PA program, you may find that you don't have much time for any work.

I don’t think so, but I couldn’t find a Web site to cite. I know that 19 years old is the oldest Healthy Families will cover children in California. Have you tried getting insurance through school? I’ve included a link to county health departments in case you need information about that.
