hey bud, you sound alot like me!!! haha, I'm studying German and Int. busn. (already fluent in Spanish) I'm a freshman now, but I took that trip last summer. what I did was I worked at a school bus factory for two months straight and saved up about $2000. $1000 for the ticket and the rest to spend. I stayed in Berlin for three weeks, with a friend (really helped out with the costs) I ran out of money towards the end...but it is so worth it
what I suggest is make friends with a German exchange student, and then when they go back for the summer, go visit!!! that's what i did. I don't know about Austria and die Schweiz, but Germany was awesome. It definitely improved my German skills dramatically.
you can prob. forget about the internship...or the job.....it's a little harder than you'd think...
but definitely go, and try to stay at least three weeks, there are many cheap hostels you can stay at too. good luck!

When you enrol, your college will provide you with internship information. In the prospectus, the college will tell you whether you need to work as interns to get pass the entire course.
To get an internship, make sure your first and second year results are excellent. Employers care about results. You may have to write an essay to explain why you want to work as interns and go through phone interviews with prospective employers.
Internship is to help you get the experience employers need when you want a full time job after graduation. Like a full time job, your employer will give you assignments to complete. What is different from full time job is that they don't expect you to be right the first time round, they provide some training to get you going, after a few times you perfected your work, they may give you other assignments. They pay you allowance to cover your transport and meal expenses. You have some experience and references to write in your resume after this.

Your best path would be to get to a college abroad first, and then begin applying. The majority who work in entertainment try for 5 to 10 years to get a job of any type in entertainment -- while waiting, they work in menial labor jobs for small salary. You have to be very determined to wait for that long.
