Most internships are for college juniors and seniors. Some allow freshman and sophomore interns. As far as a student who hasn't earned any college credits yet, I doubt you'll find one the traditional way. What exactly are you planning on majoring in? Send me a message and I'll try to give you a little advice on a route to go. But it involves you going directly to an employer and "selling" yourself to them by explaining your situation and how eager you are to gain experience. You will more than likely end up with an unpaid internship considering your situation, but it never helps to try. Unpaid experience is better than no experience at all, because employers nowadays expect college graduates to have experience.

I went to a local newspaper here and just asked if they had any openings at all, for payed jobs, freelance, internship, or anything. They started me off as writing CD reviews, and I'm about to write a piece about an art show. Next semester, I'll be doing an internship with them for credit for my minor (Communications).

So, just start calling around or going to places in your area (tv stations, newspapers, radio stations, etc.). Also, you could talk to an adviser at your college and ask them to help you out; most would be happy to.

It depends on what the interview is for and the dress code for the company. They say you should dress one step up from the dress code, but I would say business casual is the most casual anyone should be for an interview. If the dress code is business casual, you should wear a suit.

yes some internships do pay in the US. mostly all companies have paid internships, i recomend making a list of companies that u are interested in and searching their websites, under thier careers or job listintgs it should say if they have internships availabe and if they pay or not. If there is a company that you would really like to work for and it does not have any internship information, you can try calling their employment department and asking them if they have any internship opportunities and if you can send your resume.

there is no real average pay for college internships, it all depends on the company..

oh, and US government internships ussually dont pay. I was offered an interhip at the white house, but declined it bc i found out i would b working for the government for free lol..

Since I'm a freshman its not dire if I do not get a major internship with major banks yet, so I decided to go small for my first year to get a good grounding.
