It depends on the school and how early you filled the application out. Most schools disperse Pell a few weeks into each the traditional fall and the spring semesters.

A few tech schools will divide your pell up by the number of months you will be attending and disperse monthly rather than one large chunk of cash

If you dawdle and don't do your fafsa until a few weeks before the semester starts (sometimes even longer) you may not get your Pell until way into the middle of the semester or even later.
