It depends a lot on what year you're in, and what your interests are (like math? writing? art?)

However, one good guideline is that you shouldn't have to pay too much for a summer program. A lot of the programs are several thousand dollars, but those are mostly to make money and don't have that much prestige. Instead, you should try to apply to more selective programs that are subsidized or even free. Those usually are more legit and look better to colleges.
