Tutoring For College Students

Crystal Said:

Where can I find top College students who want to tutor younger students online?

We Answered:

Two of the best ways are putting an ad in the school newspaper and hanging flyers around campus. College students read the newspaper pretty frequently and look at flyers often too.

Starting a home tutoring business as a college student?

We Answered:

I don't think you need a license just so long as you don't position yourself as an educator or as an expert in any particular method of teaching. I think it is a good idea. Market yourself to the parents, not the kids. Place ads every week in craig's list and other sites that parents will use. I'd also try to meet your clients in a public place like a library or at McDonald's or someplace...no need to get accused of anything fishy. There is a guy at a college near me that sits at a desk in a library. College and high school kids can come up to him and he will help you with your homework for 5 bucks. He usually has a line

How important is it for college students to have access to free tutoring?

We Answered:

this is not a concern usually your professors and teacher's assistants will have office bours in which you can clear any concerns

Jorge Said:

Where can I advertise free tutoring for college level general chemistry?

We Answered:

Since most tutoring is best when done in person, rather than over the internet, I would recommend looking at (and posting on) the bulletin board at your local campus. Most campus's have a free board where you could post a 3x5 card with your information so that students who need the help can get in touch with you.

Good luck.

You are going to open a learning center that offers tutoring for high school and college students?

We Answered:

Well, it depends on the subjects you are working with, but I work for a college writing lab and two of our best online resources are:

Prentice Hall has a good page that goes with their Composition 1 books:
www.prenhall.com/bluepencil/bluepencil…

Purdue University has a stellar online writing lab. We often direct our students to their website!

English tutoring rate for college student? How much is fair rate in NYC?

We Answered:

i`m an english tutor with 4 years experience teaching english as a 2nd language in brazil...now i am back in the u.s. tutoring...i charge anywhere from $25-$40 per hour...your quote may be a little high, but u have to figure in your transportation to get to the girls` home...as the girls are in the same family (i think), i would take that into consideration...i usually give some kind of special rate for family members, especially if they study together...to be honest, i wouldn`t charge less than $60 a day, because that isn`t even $15/hour when u figure in your transportation...
