Tutors For College Students

Kirk Said:

Reasonable pay rate for a Tutor who is a college student?

We Answered:

don't hitnk so hard about the money (though don't takje less than 25 an hour ;)), thik about the help you'd b giving to be in need! i tutored for a while and it was such a rewarding experience - i helped a girl get through a very important maths exam...that was five years ago and although at first it looked like she had no chance of passing, in the end she came out with an 85%! Though she uses v little maths in her job now, having the good maths score helped her get into the college she wanted, to study what she wanted and now she has a cool job which she loves....she gave me a note to say thank you when she was accepted into the college (she needed min score of 75 to get in) and on teacher appreciation say (see http://www.teacher-appreciation.info ) she gave me a pen with my name inscribed in - it was so satisfying to know i changed someone's future for the better....whilst earning money of course ;)

Seth Said:

Why don't some college students know what their major is?

We Answered:

here is what I think:

not all students that go to college, want to go to college. Some go to college because of their parents, others because they have no other option, so if someone doesn't really know if they wanna go to college or not, it is easy to expect that they don't know their major

also, sometimes students are undecided and they don't know what they wanna go when they start working for real, so they just take general classes like being in a general concentration major and they take these general classes meanwhile they decide

or it is their first semester and they are sooo lost that they barely remember their name =)

Yvonne Said:

What's an appropriate gift for three college students to give their boss? We're all tutors in her classroom.

We Answered:

Why don't you all chip in for a gift certificate for a day at a spa where she can get pampered.

Or, you could all chip in a few photos that you might have had taken during the time that you have worked with her and make a special banner with all the pictures. Hang it in the classroom so its the first thing she sees when she walks in. Then maybe sign it with a little heartfelt message and that is something I am sure she would treasure for many years.
