Volunteer Opportunities College Students

Misty Said:

What are some unique volunteer opportunities?

We Answered:

Have a food drive; "Oodles of Noodles" is a pasta drive that is usually very successful for the food pantry. Collect new toothbrushes and hairbrushes for the domestic abuse shelter. Collect blankets, hats, gloves for the homeless shelter. Collect used blankets and towels for the animal shelter.
The need is great; the opportunities are endless.

Paul Said:

Looking for international volunteer opportunities.?

We Answered:

There are, but you'll have to pay your way or get a sponsor. It just isn't cost-effective to fly people with good intentions and no particular skill overseas.

The Peace Corps gives its volunteers three months of language & cultural training, medical and dental plans and an allowance. They want a return for that investment; there are only so many dollars in the bucket.

Your church, if it is large enough, or your church's national organization may have a plan to send people to Latin America for two to four week stints.

Your county United Way office will have a list of volunteer opportunities at home.

Leo Said:

volunteer opportunities?

We Answered:

Sounds like you may need non-profit management experience. You could do this by seeking out business classes, leadership programs at your school, and volunteering in areas of interest. I don't have any ideas about kids, but for pets you could open up a homeless shelter for pets and their owners, a pet shop that gets animals from shelters/pounds/rescue missions only, or something such as http://www.care2.com/causes/animal-welfa…
