You will be eligible for many scholarships, you'll just have to apply for them when that time comes around.

There are no universal scholarships for students (high school) in Australia - each private school has their programs - so you will need to look into the schools of interest for their programs. They are usually dived between sports, music, accommodation and general students. They also usually are for the first two years of high school (in a block so you win two years) and then the last two years (as a block). Once you have one you are in the same boat as everyone else to get the second one - so you could get a scholarship for two years and then nothing.

The vast majority of schools do not have the above scholarships as 100% but more like 50-60% so you would still be several thousand dollars out.

The other thing to consider is the feelings of your other son - he will feel inferior to his brother if he has to go to a different (public) school.
