What do you think about "president" 0bama's "safe school czar"?

We Answered:

Children are safe at home, but not with the Safe School Czar. Obama's wide range of acquaintances even extends to pedophiles. Go figure.

Columbine generation?

We Answered:

I can only speak to your third point -- how psychology should have been used to prevent this ghastly event.

It seems to take such an event to wake people up, even a little, to the mental distress people in our midst are suffering.

At present, prisons are our "mental hospital of last resort." In the 1980s and 90s, hordes of subdivisions closed their mental hospitals, on grounds that the patients could and should get treatment in their community.

But the mental hospital big cheeses chose not to notice the fact that there is little to none treatment available in the vast majority of communities.

And BTW, I know of at least two mental hospitals run by the state which, after they were closed, their grounds were sold -- quite reasonably! -- to developers.

Very secretive imaginary role-playing game getting me and my friend into trouble at school (long story)

We Answered:

I don't think there's anything wrong with you guys. First off. Has none of these people heard of Dungeons and Dragons? As to what you should do. Maybe try and keep the role-playing at a minimum in school grounds. Bullying can escalate. You said you guys get really bored and have nothing else to do in class. Perhaps while in class you talk about the details within your game and later actually participate in the role-playing game. Also when you said you're exercising your imagination, that is true. Imagining thing is as if being in another reality. So while it wasn't nice that you were sorta sent to a counselor your teachers may have been worried that you are not defining the lines between reality and the game. Write out all your rules and maybe ask these teachers and kids what there deal is. It's you guys right what you do in your spare time, so what if it just so happens they're near you when your game comes up in a discussion? It's not your fault they want to eavesdrop.

Discuss It!
