Marjorie Said:

How do I get to work with the football team, when Im a high school p.e. teacher?

We Answered:

I think that's a great idea. In the meantime, you may want to volunteer at a local high school and help the coaches with their team. You may need to undergo a criminal background check before they let you work with the kids. The more experience you have, the better.

Then, in your cover letter and on your resume, you can list all the volunteer experience you had with football teams.

Tanya Said:

When applying for a part-time job, should I always make a cover letter?

We Answered:

Dropping of resumes is the same as mailing out resumes. A cover letter should always accompany your resume. This attention to detail will make you stand out from the rest. In addition, your cover letter should vary for each position you apply. It should be addressed to the correct company and mention the job for which you are applying and mention the necessary skills and qualifications that you possess (briefly) which would make you an excellent candidate for the position.

The only time a cover letter should not be presented is when you are presenting your resume during a job interview. The prospective employer would not expect to receive a cover letter under this avenue of submitting your resume.

I wish you the best of luck on your employment endeavor.

Best wishes.

Resume help for a student with absolutely no working experience sending a prospecting cover letter with resume?

We Answered:

Don't focus on what you did not have; focus on what you have accomplished - your courses of study, your grades, foreign languages , computer skills, any scholarships or awards you received in school. Do not say anything negative about yourself or your lack of expereience - you are a salesman and you are selling yourself - Keep it short and to the point, don't ramble on about your boyfriend or parents or things you did wrong as a teenager etc. Keep it stricltly business. You want to make a good impression not a bad one. Your resume shouldn't start with a paragraph just a one line statement of the typoe of work you're seeking. For example; I am seeking an entry level customer service position with a company that offers a comfortable workplace, excellent benefits and opportunities for advancement.

If you're interested I write resumes and can write your resume and a sample cover letter for you- email me at myownresume@yahoo.com - Cover letter also short and to the point and start by sayinf; Attached is a copy of my resume for the Claim Adjuster Trainee poisiton. You can add your timeframe ie. Don't ramble on and end by saying. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 123-456-7890 or at the above email address. I am looking forward to meeting with you. If you don't hear from them follow up with a phone call in one week and every three or four days after that to show you are interested. You're also going to want to study interview questions and answers which you can find on line - most important is to be focused; narrow down your job choices as much as possible; don't be nervous, learn a little about the company before the interview, have someone with experience rehearse interview questions and answers with you, dress professionally; no nose rings, piercings visible or anything like that and sell your self. Know what your strengths are, organizational skills, math. typing, computer skills etc. If they ask for weakness, think of something poisitve like I am always try to arrive early or I am a perfectionist in my work. Look up job descriptions on monster or career builder.com and use the job requirements as a guide to embellishing yoru resume with skills etc. If the ad calls for good typing skills, math skills, and works well with people; use some of those as your skills on your resume. I'm not sure what your field is but insurance companies are almost always hiring claims trainees and customer service reps; small busiensses are always looking for sales oriented people although small businesses are getting hit with a new tax law that will make it harder for them to hire new help. It's a very tough econaomy and you have to be agressive in your search; make several resumes one for customer service; one for sales jobs etc...I wish you the best of luck. If you have a ny questions email me...

Mabel Said:

How to write an effective Cover Letter?

We Answered:

Generally cover letters are written with three paragraphs. The first one should include a greeting and what type of position you are looking for. The second is where you should include qualifications and experience. In the third, include contact information and a brief thank you.

You don't want your cover letter to be more than one page. I am assuming you will also be including a resume, so don't put all your qualifications in the cover letter, they can see all that in your resume.

Don't forget to have other people read it over for you. The worst thing you can do is have spelling or grammar errors in your cover letter. Good luck!
