Debate Questions For High School Students

Adam Said:

What question(s) would YOU ask John McCain and/or Barak Obama for the 09/26/08 1st Presidential Debate? ?

We Answered:

The first question I would ask senator McCain is "if elected what happens to America if you drop dead?" And I would demand some hard facts to support any answer he gave.

G.P.A and reassurance questions from the out-of-the-norm high school student?

We Answered:

Hey there...sound like you have a great spirit and your heart is in the right place. You sound a little lost haha but aren't we all? Anyways, I think as far as calculating the weighted GPA, you can ask your counselor about that? Also...all your extra-curriculars will for sure get you into a great college. If anything...you can always go to a college that accepts you (even it is not your dream college) and then transfer to another one if you feel you're not getting the education you want. College is in no way set in stone...and after you graduate...it honestly doesn't make a world of a difference where you have graduated from. Employers are always looking for experience over the name of your college....at least in my experience. So basically, apply to a bunch of places...don't rush into declaring a major...and continue living your life with the same curiosity and enthusiasm that i see from this post.

What are some good debate questions on stem cells for high school students?

We Answered:

Do you want questions that would spawn debate?

If so...

Is it ethical to use stem cells for research?
Is it necessary to use stem cells for research?
How would the use of stem cells be an advantage to the US compared to other countries?

There are plenty of questions out there, you just have to think of them.
Pretty much any question of ethics and beliefs will spawn debate among us high school students.

Hope this helped!

Poll: Mac or PC for a high school/college student?

We Answered:

I'd say Mac. Used them all my life and was great throughout high school and college. Plus now Macs can be set up to run Windows as well (you install both operating systems and at startup you choose which one to run). College campuses are set up to be able to accommodate both Mac and PCs, so you shouldn't have to worry about compatibility issues. Macs and PCs get along fairly well for basic stuff nowadays. Macs are generally better built and longer lasting though. You pay a little more, but it's worth it in the end. Game choices are a little hindered for Macs since some are made for PC only, but Mac still has plenty of options and the list is increasing since they've switched to the Intel processors. All the major apps like Microsoft Office, Adobe CS, etc. are cross platform so that's a non-issue as well.

More than anything make sure to get a computer that is going to last in terms of speed and space. Get a decent size hard drive (Macs come with at least 120 GB [MacBook Air] but I'd get at least 250 GB), decent RAM (at least 2 GB, I'd go with 4 or 8), and a good processor (at least 2 GHz).

I've had my iMac flatscreen for 4 years now, 2 years of which was during college (2 GHz G5, 1 GB RAM, 250 GB hard drive), and it still works great. I use it for lots of music editing and graphics work as well as basic surfing, gaming, music/movies, etc. I do need to upgrade once I get the spare cash, but it still works fine for almost everything (some of the newer apps including the new OS require an updated processor and more RAM).

Discuss It!
