Financial Aid For High School Students
Kent Said:
Any financial aid for Private High school students? (Pennsylvania)? We Answered:
You could apply for financial aid. There are schools that offers a 'free' education to qualified applicants from families with less than $75,000 income. Your child could apply for scholarship as his grades are very good. You can get detailed information at:www.privateschoolreview.com/articles/1…

Where can I find financial aid for High school students in this time of the year.. or is it too late?We Answered:
fin aid is for college, not available for high school. if you mean that the student is going to college in the fall, you can still apply with the fafsa, may not get as much as you would have if you met the deadlineGlenda Said:
Are there any grants or financial aid for American high school students who are trying to study abroad? We Answered:
I would suggest signing up with an exchange organization who will take care of all the details of going on exchange. I am a 5-time host mom and volunteer with Youth For Understanding (YFU). YFU, AFS, and Rotary are frequently called "the big 3" when it comes to exchanges - long histories and good reputations. Please forgive my bias towards YFU - it's the one with which I have direct experience. I am gaining indirect experience by corresponding with former students. When I have asked exchange students why they chose YFU, I get the following answers: (1) YFU gave them more bang for their buck and/or (2) someone they knew and trusted recommended YFU. 95% of the fees collected by YFU go for direct program costs (airline tickets, support in hosting country, etc.). YFU has been around for 59 years and has learned how to make exchanges successful. Which ever program you choose, make sure they are listed with the Council for Standards on International Educational Travel (csiet.org). They routinely audit programs for quality. It is my understanding that Rotary will be the cheapest of the three, but it's pretty competitive and you may not be able to go where you want to go. Rotary is a one-to-one program - meaning that if a student in area X of the USA wants to go to country Y, then families in area X have to host a student from country Y.
AFS and YFU have scholarships to help with the cost of going on exchange. I can't speak for AFS, but in a typical year, 500 students from the USA will travel with YFU. 300 will have a full or partial scholarship. The scholarships are competitive, but those odds aren't too bad. Many of the scholarships will consider financial need, but you will have to provide some financial information. This information will be kept confidential and only the scholarship people will know about it.
I've put some links below: One is a link to a booklet with ideas for raising money.
Good luck to you no matter what you choose!
