High School Planning

Joyce Said:

What are you planning to do after high school?

We Answered:

I'm a junior, and I think after highschool, I'd like to start focusing towards a career in law. Runs in the family.
:p Not exactly the most fun but hey... it's a living.

Anne Said:

For a teen fresh out of high school planning to attend a community college?

We Answered:

Both cities are expensive, and don't have dorms at their community colleges. Maybe LA because I think it might be easier to find a community college near lots of apts, like in Glendale or Pasadena, and it might be slightly cheaper. Do you have California residency, so the price of college will be low? You'll have to have a roommate and be very careful with money!

Here is the list of CA community colleges: http://www.cccco.edu/

What do you want to study? If there is something you are interested in, choose the community college that has classes in that subject. Here are some examples:

Like LACC has a great theatre arts program: http://lacitycollege.edu/academic/depart…

PCC (Pasadena) has a really good Cinema Program: http://www.geocities.com/jangfilms/PCC_C…
And Music Dept: http://www.pasadena.edu/divisions/perfor…

Santa Monica College has an extensive music dept: http://www.smc.edu/music/

You can also use a community college to transfer to a 4 yr college, guaranteed if you follow the program. Look for the Transfer Center on the community college website.

Good luck!

I need help planning a high school reunion?

We Answered:

If I were you I would include the sponsorship opportunity when you reach out to your fellow classmates - perhaps in an email newsletter type update or something. Many of your fellow classmates might have some great connections as well.

Eileen Said:

Great gift for a high school percussionist planning to major in music education...?

We Answered:

If planning on majoring in music education, perhaps a nice folder. A leather portfolio type one would work nicely. My roommate is a music education major and she is always carrying around compositions and paperwork and it is something that they could use far into their careers as band directors.

Planning high-school with intentions of becoming a chef?

We Answered:

Some good classes to take would be Home Economics, Basic Nutrition, Biology (Micro if offered), and general economic classes (money). Colorado Culinary School is a good school to look into. I would also do some research on Cruise lines since they travel the world and hire a large number of the graduates of Culinary schools.
