As Canadians, we are generally required to report all worldly income. I realize that she will not be in an owing situation anyway, but it would actually be to her benefit to file. Since she is over 18, unless she turned 18 in 2008 (where you would be claiming certain credits for her), she could be entitled to a refund. Plus, she needs to file a return each year in order to receive the GST credit. If she will be turning 19 this year (or is 19 already), she should apply for the GST credit now so that she will be able to receive the first quarterly payment after she turns 19.
