How should I choose which high school to go to?

We Answered:

If honors means they are going to pay for your tuition, then go for it. But otherwise, I would say that a school with better academics, as you say Saint Francis has, would be the better choice. You'll challenge yourself and be better prepared once you go to college or university. Also, if you do well enough at Saint Francis, do they have an honor roll that you would be placed on? That's something to look into.

How does De la Salle high school football win all the time?

We Answered:

De La Salle has a very good Football Coach (I forgot his name), not to mention its a Private High School. The Spartans has a bunch of great alumnis like: Maurice Jones-Drew (Jacksonville Jaguars), Derek Landri (Notre Dame), Amani Toomer (Giants), DJ Williams (Broncos). My alma mater "Canyon High" beat De La Salle a couple years ago in the CIF Championship game.

Any thoughts on La Canada High School?

We Answered:

Overall La Canada is a great middle/high school. Definitely one of the best, and most desirable, anywhere in LA County. There are a few other great public high schools, but overall, La Canada and South Pasadena are the two that I believe have the best mix of good academics for a public school and nice kids that don't feel the need to be overly competitive with one another. The kids work hard, education is generally very important to most of the students and parents. The kids tend to be quite nice and have good social lives. Of course, there will be a few students with issues, but compared to other schools, there are going to be less. The college counseling at La Canada is very good compared to other public schools and if the kid is willing to do the work, then they can definitely be competitive for the Ivies and other top colleges. My son doesn't attend La Canada, but I know many parents with kids in the school who also have kids at the local private schools and they can't say enough nice things about La Canada High, and they seem to be very impressed with the teachers.

You can't beat La Canada's location, it's very safe and within a few blocks there are two other high schools and lots of restaurants for kids to hang out after school. The kids from the 3 high schools often hang out together, many having been in the same elementary and/or middle schools.

If you are interested in a private school, one of the top in LA, with an extremely rigorous curriculum, but also very social nice kids, Flintridge Prep (7 - 12) is right around the corner. It's a great private school, costs about $27,000 a year. For guys who are very athletic and prefer private school, St. Francis is also right around the corner from La Canada. Not as academic as Prep, but a very good school. It's Catholic, but not all of the boys are. St. Francis costs about $12,000 a year.

Good luck!

Former or Current La Cueva High School Students only?

We Answered:

Sweetie, its going to be pretty hard to find someone from that school on here, much less someone who had or has that teacher.

I don't know about your school, but my school has a website that students go on and rate the teachers. It's helpful. Here's the website. Go and search New Mexico and hopefully your school will be on there!
Much luck!

OH WAIT!!!! I found it for you! This is it: http://www.ratemyteachers.com/schools/ne…

Here's what people say about her:

1.) not an easy class, but that doesn't mean she doesn't teach well. You really just have to pay attention and work hard. She's very nice, very smart and extremely helpful if you just take the time to ask

2.)i hated that class and he lectures never made any sense, its probably because she is a cooking teacher, but thats just me

3.) I liked her allot. Her class to me was manageable and I though I learned allot. i even enjoyed the mole projects..

I really hoped that helped!

How is a nonimmigrant LA high school student get accepted by universities?

We Answered:

Usually, illegal inmigrants are not allowed to enter University. You need a student visa for that. Otherwise, she might only be able to do high school. There are some colleges that accept inmigrants as long as they have a high school diploma from the US, you need to find out if that exists in your area/. But who knows, the laws may change any minute, probably by the time she reaches the age out of high school the situation is different.
