I am from Hong Kong, China, and I have studied in Canada as well.

There is vast difference between West and East in this realm. Here is some info for you:

- Chinese/Japanese math topics are generally the same as yours, but the students spend 3 times as much time on Math then their peers in the West.

- If you are in American/Canadian highschool, grade 9, your Chinese peer is probably already doing your grade 10-11's math topics.

- Again, when teachers in the West assign math homework, students groan, don't do it, or copy it...In China, Japan, students expect extra questions, and spend enormous amounds of time doing it. Even getting tutors to get ahead for next year.
