Successful High School Students
Ida Said:
What are the essential elements all successful high schools should have?We Answered:
Most importantly, you would need excellent, perceptive teachers who are willing to make themselves available to their students in a one-on-one situation. This gives the students the opportunity to share their concerns, ambitions, etc., with their teachers; and it can provide the teacher with greater insights, as to the students' needs. The ideal school should also have state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, but the teachers are the most important resource for optimum learning.

What's is the secret behind smart, successful high school students? We Answered:
Smart students do study hard. Their memory techniques are also superior to normal students. These techniques can be learned. You can buy Tony Buzan's books on how to improve your memory and using mind maps.Smart students are conscientious. They manage their time well and do not slack. They are not generally distracted by wild parties and much entertainment.
Smart students have goals in mind: to be a top accountant, doctor, engineer, scientist etc. They sweat their way to the top.
Do take notice of your EQ too. It is important in the business world.

what should a successful environmental education program for high school students include? We Answered:
There are many issues in environmental education and the subject matter changes so rapidly that it would be best to present an open discussion format with hands-on projects for high school students. Portfolios could be developed to present student work and an environmental education propgram could be integrated into language arts, government, or any other social science. One recommendation is to research best practices that exist for environmental education and instruction. Starting with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and clicking the top bar on the home page for education topics you'll find information about environmental education.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also has decent teacher resources. I used their website in my government class when we discussed the history of environmental protection and mining in Colorado. Also, it was useful when developing hands-on learning for all levels of learners in my classroom. Basically, I allowed the students to develop their own interests during the introductory phase of my course and offered guidance on topics that were relevant to the course. We kept portfolios of work and students were required to complete both a visual presentation and a written paper.
