Tammy Said:
What are my chances of getting into Columbia? We Answered:
You have a good looking resume. . .so do just about every single other applicant that applies. Your schools lack of advanced courses will hurt you. Make sure your essay is a knock out, but remember that no one really has a shot at any Ivy league school. I've seen people get in w/ a 2.8 and i've seen people declined with a 4.3. I recommend some community service, a lot of it.Gwendolyn Said:
Chance me? Stanford University?We Answered:
Everyone applying to Stanford and the other top schools has the highest grades in the hardest classes and very high test scores. Having that gets you an average chance of admission, or about 10%. Your activities are good, but won't make you stand out for a top school at the moment. You need to find some way to get involved in your intended major now.Michael Said:
Chances at an Ivy League School? We Answered:
You certainly have a strong chance at the ivies. I would suggest getting strong letters of recommendations. Maybe get to know some important people in your community and have them write a strong reference letter for you. Remember that your admissions essays are also heavily considered. With all that being said, Harvard, Yale and Princeton are very unpredictable as far as admissions go. But, you most certainly have a strong shot at all the other ivies. Nevertheless, you have very impressive credentials, and you seem very qualified for all the ivies. I think you'll get in. Good luck! =)Kelly Said:
is a 1540 on my PSAT as a sophomore a good score? We Answered:
I've read that the average improvement on the PSAT, going from 10th grade to 11th grade is 10 points, or 164 in your case. When you have some time, you can self-study or take a course in SAT test taking skills. There is some strategy to taking the test, such as when to guess and how to write the essay. Because you are a good student, your score might improve significantly with some test taking skills. I think it would be best for you to study the SAT and not the PSAT. You are unlikely to be a National Merit Scholar or commended even with improved test scores. Just concentrate on the SAT which will count for you.
Good luck!

Can I Get Into UPenn/Boston College/NYU/Boston University/Villanova/Brown?We Answered:
UPenn and Brown are a bit of a reach. Why are you applying to BU? Their average GPA for accepted applicants is 3.45, way beneath your credentials. Villanova is not nationally ranked in US News & World Reports. They only make the regional rankings. I would only use them as your safety. You are a good match for BC and NYU. I would also suggest Tufts and Holy Cross as good matches.Delores Said:
What are my chances of getting in?We Answered:
oh wow you should give urself a pat on the back for doing all of this. im pretty sure that you can get in especially with all you extracuricular activities. you GPA is pretty high and if thats the best you can do than thats okay. umm... yea im quite sure that u can get in. do you have an SAT or ACT score, if its realatively high that you can get in.
