Why Do High School Students Drop Out Of School
Jeffery Said:
Why do adults lie to teens about the importance of a high school education? We Answered:
You are one of few. Maybe you were smart enough to bypass the high school education but 99% of people are not. Please don't give false impressions. It O.K. to brag on yourself.Stephen Said:
Why is dropping out of high school considered such a bad thing...?We Answered:
I would never make fun of an electrician. That's a person that made something of themselves. And you are right in that some high school dropouts can be tremendously successful. But I would also say, some people are tremendously successful becoming professional athletes. Most are not.
While a high school degree (or any other degree for that matter) does not guarantee competence, it does suggest to me that the person is not a quitter, would be flexible, and willing to do what is required, even if it doesn't seem necessary or fun. If I was an employer with the choice between two apparently equal people - one with a degree and the other without - I'd pick the graduate. Maybe the dropout decided that school was a waste of time. I hope they won't put in just one nail in each stud when framing the house we're building, because they think more nails would be a waste of time.
