We Answered:

Recognizing a pattern within different races doesn't make you a racist. It makes you observant. I think a lot of it has to do with cultures. In general, a lot of hispanics value family and supporting their families-immediate and extended-through the work force. Education isn't priority for them. Blacks have come a long way, but too many of them still don't value education. Part of that problem, I believe is a lack of strong, present parents who push their kids to make better choices. But in regards to the ones who drop out, I think we'd find those common denominators.

Unfortunately, choosing anything else over education usually results in the continuance of cycles of poverty. Just my thoughts on it.

some drop out because they don't see the point either they are not doing well or it is a severly negative experience. (I had a friend drop out because he was being harrassed and the school did nothing). It could be family issues and you have to start working. It could be for health reasons too.

the same reason why any kid would drop out of school, its just that some of the reasons seem to be more prevalent in black culture. Its not the race, its the environment.

physical or mental handicapping problems

need to make money

problems with other students

Do not accept authority

Difficulty with the English language

Illness of themselves or a family member

too far behind to graduate
