Why Do Students Drop Out Of High School

Alma Said:

why do people drop out of school to help support their families?

We Answered:

i'll tell you why most students drop out..b/c school is hell (with flourescent lighting)

haha jk...

I knew this one kid who just couldn't sit in class and do work...he HAD to be outside doing physical (hands-on) work.

educators need to take a huge step back and look at the big picture...some kids just aren't made out for school

why do student drop out of High school?

We Answered:

Some do it to take on jobs to support themselves or their families, others just don't want to go through with it. Any dropout you ask will give you a different answer.

why do some students decide to drop out of high school?

We Answered:

schools put on WAYYYYYY too much pressure. some people just can't handle it. i dropped out and started home schooling because the pressure was just too much.

Why should people be allowed to drop out of high school?

We Answered:

People should be able to drop out of school because if they do not want to be there, they are more than likely going to be a disruption to the people who come to school and are actually trying to learn. It also cuts down violence because the people who are the most violent are usually the ones who would rather not be in school anyways, since their mind is obviously on other things besides school.

Do you think it should be illegal for students to drop out of high school to pursue sports at college level?

We Answered:

I don't think it should be legal to drop out of high school for any reason except serious health concerns. The problem with the youth of America today is that they are to impatient to have all that they want and that makes them stupid when it comes to realizing the consequences of their actions. Making money the easy way selling drugs for instance may seem like a dream come true instead of them "wasting" their time sitting in a classroom and actually studying...but in the long run, the drug stuff will only bring them to a bad end whereas their studying could make a decent life for them for their whole life.

And yes, I do think that most high schools today are more an extension of their sports program rather than the other way around. I know the kids like it...and many educators say that it is the only way to keep kids in school...but isn't that sending the wrong message? Again, we are just promoting the desire to have everything easy and fun...and anything that must be worked for is considered to be bad.
