Writing Contests??

Here is another awesome site: http://www.wildchildpublishing.com/
Your writings will most likely be posted without you getting money, but sometimes there are contests on there; so you can win money.

Jackie Said:

Does anyone know of any writing or photography contests open to High School students?

We Answered:

Go to shutterbug.com and do a search for photography contests. Shutterbug Magazine has been around for a long time so its trustworthy.

Beware of "contests" that promise your entry will be published in a book that you can buy for the "low low price of only $69.99" - obviously a scam. Have your parents check into any contest before you enter. Know what you're signing and what rights you give up to enter the contest. Think long and hard before you sign away all rights to your photograph. You might have a winning photo that could be marketed to greeting card or calendar companies but if you've signed away all rights to it it no longer belongs to you. So you can't sell it. Signing "one time rights" will protect you.

Your English teacher probably knows of writing contests that aren't scams.
