Very few colleges require study abroad for anyone except language majors.

Most colleges do not have a minimum number of language classes before you can study abroad. However, most study abroad programs will. The number depends on the intensity of the program - if classes are taught in a language, you'll likely need at least three college semesters. If you'll be taking classes at a foreign university with native students, you may need four. Other programs focus more on learning the language rather than immersion so you may not need any background at all. And of course there are always programs in countries where English is the primary language.

When you get to college speak to someone at the study abroad office. They can give you ideas about programs that fit your interests and tell you what language background you'll require.
