Foreign Student Exchange
Renee Said:
What exactly is a foreign exchange student? We Answered:
HiAn exchange student is a fantastic experience basically is when you go to another country to learn or improve a language and also to learn about the culture of that country, you usually talk with a specific travel-agency with experience in exchange students like YFU, AFS or another to see an exchange program (you stay with a host family and have special classes of a specific language, and includes another activities with other student that are on an exchange student too ), they ask you where you want to go, for how long do you want to go, what language do you wanna learn etc, after this you have to take some exams to verify you level of the language (in some countries the ask you to have a basic knowledge of the local idiom), and you postulate to go to that place, the also make you some interviews to search a host family for you, and finally if you pass you pay for the program and then you go on a exchange student!
If i had the opportunity i would love to be an exchange student and I would like to go to Australia to improve my english because i'm not a english native speaker (so sorry if i made mistakes lol) i love the idea of being an exchange student also i'm triying to convince my parent to let me go on one.
Hope this help you
Bye!

What good foreign exchange student companies are good for going to england? We Answered:
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but many high school exchange programs have suspended exchanges with anywhere in what we typically call "the British Isles". (I can't comment on University level exchanges.) This is due to a difficulty in students getting visas. I can't speak for other organizations, but YFU may be reconsidering British exchanges in 2012, but there are no guarantees that they will resume. If I may, I would suggest contacting your local Rotary Club (just Google "Rotary" and the name of your city). While Rotary programs are more competitive and restrictive, they may have more on an 'inside track' for getting visas.
As a note, please make sure that that any organization that you choose is listed with the Council for Standards on International Educational Travel (csiet.org). They routinely audit programs for quality. While it is possible that a good organization is not listed with them, it is less likely and I would advise doing more research on anyone that is not listed with them.
Also, have you considered other countries? If you want England specifically for culture or some other reason, then that's fine. But if you're just concerned about language, there are English-speaking programs to other countries (for example, YFU has programs to Australia, South Africa, Ghana, and India) and programs that do not require that you study the language before you go. If you don't have your heart set on Britain, post another question and I'm sure you'll get many answers.
Good luck to you!

How do i become a foreign exchange student? We Answered:
Hi,Now is a great time to begin thinking about this. The minimum age to come to the US is 15.
The top three programs are AFS, YFU and Rotary. I wouldn't advise trying the others. By all means, stay away from Two Worlds United, which is little more than a scam.
The program will help you with all you need -- finding a host family, school, travel, insurance, orientations and representatives in the US.

Is there a foreign student exchange program in UP?We Answered:
the university of the philippines has research partnerships and student/faculty exchange programs with cornell university, yale university, purdue university and michigan state university, among others. i believe, however, that it's only for students taking their masters or PhDs.but they do accept international students at all levels.

what are the international organizations that allow foreign student exchange programs? We Answered:
The best place for help on this is the Committee for safety of Foreign exchange students that is where you can startEva Said:
What are some foreign exchange student programs for fifteen year olds?We Answered:
Hi,I agree with the other poster, if you limit yourself to just a summer program, you lose many of the benefits of being an exchange student -- mainly the culture and language immersion. If you are just there for the summer, it's more of a holiday and not an academic experience.
If you go for a whole year, or at least a semester, you will be studying in a different language -- and you will truly learn it! Also, colleges and universities LOVE exchange students and often offer them preferred admissions and sometimes scholarship money. On top of that, the language you learn will benefit you in the workplace as well, with a higher salary, especially if you maintain that training through college.
All of this equals a much bigger "bang for your buck"!
As to finding a program, you can look at www.csiet.org. That site lists all the programs certified to operate in the U.S. You should also ask your high school counselor, as an organization is only as good as its local representatives. Generally, Rotary is the cheapest, but most competitive, and AFS, Aspect, 4-H and YFU are usually quality programs as well and offer scholarships.
The best time to go is your junior year. Then you can work your credits easier (your school will give you credit for some of what you do as an exchange student too, but get it in writing) and will have all the fun of your senior year and graduating with your class.

Good luck -- and PLEASE consider the longer program!
