Sorry there is now cheap city in Norway!

You might want to apply for a Norwegian foreigner scholorship, I think it is http://lanekassen.no/templates/SectionPa… who handles this scholorship (ask them).

Oslo is the most expensive city. Else, there's quite the same of cost, but always expensive (sorry!). Bergen and Trondheim has most variety on which career to do :)

well, try look for info about Seoul National University, Hannam University, or Seoul Women's University... Most of the good universities are in Seoul but I heard that you can find also find them in Daegu or Incheon...

That would depend a lot on what you want to study, since not all studies can be found in all cities. But as far as the university towns go, they are probably ranked in this order (cheap to expensive): Aalborg, Odense, Aarhus, Roskilde and Copenhagen. This said, there really is nowhere truly inexpensive in Denmark, it's a very expensive country in general.

Don't do it.

1. Yes you can open the account, but the brokerage house won't know what to tell you because they will have so few accounts like yours. They will forget to have you turn in updated W-8Ben forms and will tell you the wrong tax info.

2. If you can show you have an investment, you can use a letter from the brokerage house showing you have an account to apply for an ITIN. This is one of the exceptions of waiting until you have a tax return to get one.

3/4. Taxes. See these links. Basically your tax break is any money in a regular US bank account can earn interest and you won't be taxed, but those accounts pay very little.

Since you are physically in the US, you have to pay tax on any capital gains as well as up to 30% for interest/dividend income. Reporting the income will be on page 4 of the 1040NR, not page 1.
