Go to a Citizens Advice Bureau (there's one in most British towns) and they will explain this complicated issue to you. Do not plan to get married until you understand the laws behind it. You could end up very disappointed.

A very risky situation. To extend her student visa she might be asked for an attendance record from Uni. She can can be caught out if someone reports her otherwise she has to keep her mouth shut and nobody would know. I am an international student in the UK and i would not recommend doing what she's doing
