Study Abroad France

Brittany Said:

Looking to study abroad in France for a year, help?

We Answered:

With most programs, you can ask for what's called a Direct Placement. This is where you request a specific family. IF that family meets the program's requirements and their school accepts you, you should be able to stay with them. As a note, your cousins should check to make sure they can host you -- some countries don't allow relatives to be host families - they should check to see if that is true (or how 'close' of a family relationship is allowed).
Maybe this is 'splitting hairs', but usually the program does not pick the host family -- the host family picks you and the program generally allows the match (as long as there isn't something glaringly wrong, like a family that smokes inside trying to choose a student who gets terrible asthma around smoke). Just FYI.
Good luck to you!
