Yes, every country has a quarantine process, sometimes the dog has to spend weeks if not months away from the owner...believe me it is just as bad as letting a family member care for the dog while you are gone...I would not put the dog through all the separation unless you really have to....

and the return, will have to be quarantine coming back to the states.......we bought a dog from Germany 3 yrs ago, a Schnauzer, he spent 4 mos. in Los Angeles under quarantine before you could bring him home, and it is very expensive...
