Study In The Uk
Sandra Said:
if i study uk will i get passport? We Answered:
You can only apply for a British passport once you have citizenship. As a citizen of an EU member state you do NOT require a visa to live or study in the UK & after 5 years legal residence in the UK you will considered to be permanently settled, once you've lived in the UK for a further year you should become eligible to apply for British citizenship by naturalisation.

Julia B your information relates to those married to British citizens on spouse visas.
In normal circumstances a non-EU citizen in the UK on a student visa is NOT eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain or citizenship.
Sheila Said:
What's the easiest way for a low-income US couple to spend 6 months in the UK?We Answered:
Currently there is a working holiday maker scheme (which would have been ideal) however the USA is not part of it and the rules are about to change (November 2008) and the scheme is to be abolished.the second link (for which you must be a full time degree level student) says
Can I work?
You can take part-time or holiday work, but you must not:
work for more than 20 hours a week during term time unless your placement is part of your studies, has been agreed with your educational institution and leads to a degree or qualification awarded by a nationally recognised examining body
do business, be self-employed or provide services as a professional sportsperson or entertainer, or
work full-time in a permanent job.
If you want to come on a cheap short course for less than 6 months you will not be allowed to work. If you want to come as a visitor (doing a house swop) you must be a genuine visitor and you will not be allowed to work. Essentially, unless you fit into one of the categories of permit free employment (third link) or are sponsored for a particular job (very difficult) you have no chance of coming here and working legally.
