Where To Study Abroad

Ruben Said:

How to decide on where to study abroad?

We Answered:

I was a Psych major too, but going to another country was about expanding my exposure to new ideas and experiences. I wanted to learn another language and experience a different culture. I also wanted a location where I would have the opportunity to travel and see lots of other countries.

Many of the most popular countries in Europe such as France, Germany, Spain, Italy have stricter requirements since they have so many people wanting to go that already know the language. Therefore I considered countries near those that had no language prerequisites, but had language immersion opportunities.

I ended up selecting Denmark, and was very happy with my decision. It is a beautiful country with friendly people who all learn excellent English, but still have their own language and culture. Its geographical location made it a great staging point for many trips exploring the rest of northern Europe. Its medieval history was also a great source of interest to me and became my minor subject of study.

Need help deciding where to study abroad?

We Answered:

Where are you from?

I have studied in China twice. I had the best time of my life. I would avoid going to the typical study abroad destinations: Europe, Australia, and go to China.

Where is a good spanish speaking country to study abroad in?

We Answered:

Don't go to Spain! They use lot of gramatic that isn't used in anywhere else, just there! Like "vosotros", they are the only spanish-speaking country that use such words and it will be difficul and unnecessary to learn them.

I will suggest Peru, Ecuador or Colombia, they speak really clear and slow, it's easy to understand and they're known as the best spanish.

Argentina should also be a good possibility, but they have also their particular way of speaking.

They countries you really shouldn't go to: Mexico (They have a really ugly slang), Chile (People speak fast and not clear, and also lot of slang) and Spain, as said before.

And finally, like others said, you should go for one year, one semester is not enough, you will see!

Discuss It!
