Hospitality Strategic Management

Sue Said:

How does "Strategic Management" benefit hospitality organisation?

We Answered:

Evidence indicates that hospital planners do not widely practice strategic management. An integrative approach to strategic management may, however, enable them to better operate in today's increasingly turbulent environment, and hospital strategists can learn from the mistakes of businesses in the corporate sector.

Has anyone read "The 4 Hour Work Week"? What do you think of the book?

We Answered:

It's decent, not revolutionary but motivating. My advice, pop over to Amazon.com and read the reviews--and save yourself a few bucks. The password privileges you get by purchasing a copy get you access to a dead online forum twitching with idiots. But the book does have some gems. He's basically saying you should take a step back from the normal working life and hack it. And while life hacks aren't anything new, he gets you thinking in an empowered way about your life. Stuff like, to hell with email. Just don't do it. Refuse to do email except for 10 minutes every Monday. Sounds great, and it's a smart perspective, you just need to be willing to radically change from the modern way. I can't do it. I tried. I love the internet too much and the author hates the internet (pretty much) and thinks it's a huge time/energy vaccuum (which it is, but hey).

Best tip: outsource your life. Here he nails it. Rent the brain cycles of an admin assistant in India (or for a few bucks more, the U.S.). You'll save time and they do good work. Which reminds me, I think the name of the outsourcing outfit the author likes is brickwork.com (or something like that).

Better tip: (which wasn't included in the book) Automate. Automate. Automate. That's the key to a 4-hr workweek. (But I don't have a NYT bestseller, so don't listen to me)

can you find any mistakes in this translation?

We Answered:

4- Institute computerised joint training courses, putting into use, in a project, the knowledge and the means to develop them, making the most use of the knowledge of people operating in the same professional field.
5- Nowadays English is used as an international communication language, thus enabling people from different countries to speak a language that is not their own. Mistakes in written translation and speaking are eliminated . So, we propose to create cultural exchanges directly from language to language, avoiding the necessity of a requirement to speak a third language. So, everybody can speak and listen in their language.
6- Facilitate the search for a qualified translator from both the institutions and the private sector, creating a network of professionalism based on the knowledge of experts operating in the specialised translation field.

The above-mentioned goals double through some proposes in reference to the organisational, management and strategic framework of our company. The proposal, that we expect to complete within a very short time, can be summarised as follows:
1) Development and strengthening of the website. We think that valid support on the web, with accessibility to all. This will enable the data storage and the intuitive search of video lessons and training aids, to be a decisive step forward for our project. The service, that the students who are not part of the association, will only be able access this only on payment. It will be available in different languages, depending on the members and relationships. All this is aimed not only as a financial gain, but also to increase the prestige of the institutions involved.
2- Creation of a database: thus the users can register autonomously, and insert their curriculum vitae, which will be translated into several languages and will be organised systematically by sector and area of responsibility. The database can be accessed easily by businesses looking for staff in order to encourage the exchange and the mobility of international professionals. In this way, companies may be provided with the most competent people to perform in a particular activity, by setting the search according their most functional criteria.
3- Huge possibilities for the use of associated usages: we can handle, a very large number of translations. The language groups are: (Albanian, Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Slovak, Spanish, and Ukrainian. In many areas in which we are competent, are:
- Telecommunication
- Tourism
- The hospitality industry
- Food
- Fashion
- The automotive industry
- The field of art and literature

As a matter of fact, people, who already have work experience in these areas are part of our association. Split into language groups and led by native speakers who have accumulated a considerable background of knowledge in the field mentioned above.
One of the beliefs of our association is the necessity and the opportunity to think big. Opportunity, as our work will demonstrate doesn’t have to be denied to anyone, especially when, behind a project, big dreams and estimated life are hidden. The peculiarity of GRADg is that, unlike other associations of mediators with similar purposes, doesn’t work only ’from ‘ and ‘to’ the country of origin, but it intends to put in touch different countries, sometimes with little connection between them.
