Human Change Management

Stacey Said:

Is anyone Know, Describe How Technology is changing Human Resource Management?

We Answered:

Technology has changed many aspects of human resource management. The staffing function of HR has been almost completely computerized. Resumes are now scanned by computers, interview schedules and results are tracked electronically, and pre-employment testing can be administered electronically.

Employee records management is now performed using HRIS (human resource information systems) that are computerized. All employee information from training records to performance evaluations can be stored in these systems and retrieved through canned or custom reporting.

Compensation and benefits management has been revolutionized by technology. Employees can now be paid by direct deposit, pay and benefit information is tracked electronically, and payroll can be processed more quickly.

Training has changed with technology as many training programs are now computer-based. Computers can store training information and the results of tests, quizzes, and certification exams.

Question about a career change to human resources?

We Answered:

In my search and interviews for HR positions, it seems that more and more emphasis is being placed on a PHR or SPHR than graduate-level education. I think your finance background plus a PHR will open more doors than a graduate degree for crossing over to HR...especially if you look for HR positions with specialties in total rewards, benefits administration, and HRIS administration.

Kyle Said:

I have an MBA in Human Resource Management and I am interested in working internationally. I am a US citizen.?

We Answered:

A lot of the global companies (Fortune 500) will love to have you since they need to export their recruiting standards overseas. But it also depends on
- are you currently employed, esp. employed at a firm with oversea presence, preferrably expanding their presence? If so you can ask to be transferred to the oversea office
- what language skills/international experience do you have? Do you have a cultural understanding for where you are going? I think these will weigh in as well.

Since you've already had significant HR experience, you could either ask your colleague who've worked overseas, or even just ask yourself the question: if you are interviewing this candidate for an oversea HR position, what would you be looking for? and then apply what you think is important to assess yourself.
