I am actually looking into that myself. If you are the type of person that has the discipline to take online courses and keep up with the work then I say go for it. Myself, I need to be in a classroom to learn so that is my best option. But, if you need the convenience of online courses I say that it is a good idea for you.

The Best... the First.. and the most respected ...distance learn college is the Regents Program based out of Albany, New York. It is now called Excelsior College. Many, many other programs listed are just 'services' that claim to help you pass the Excelsior College hands-on exams and get you through the courses. Don't waste your money .....go to the source. I don't know of a program comparison. Most people I know are going through Phoenix. I think Jacksonville has a good program but they want you to fill out a questionaire. I ended up have to request all of the info and comparing them at home.

an RN with a 2 year degree can work in acute care. That where nurses get their exp. You only need the BSN if you want to go on to some type of nurse manager or to become an NP.

Don't take any online classes for this degree... It Doesn't really have a good positive outlook on your application (Doesn't ruin it but it just doesn't have much of an effect for a good job).
