You would be entitled to benefit for your lodgings.......this would be £65.00 a week.so if you are looking for somewhere bear this in mind. The housing dept have a duty to deal with a claim within 6 weeks. So you could be waiting as long as six weeks for rent money. You would have to bear this in mind.You would also be entitled to income support.......about 60 a week I think . until you were in work. However you would have to show that you were looking for work and it wouldnt be enough to say you wanted a job in a zoo.......they would expect you to look for any old job.

You wouldnt jump the queue on a council list.........so you would have to register on arrival.and then you would have to wait with everyone else.that could be years. Thou girls have joy whereas blokes dont get a look in so you would be ok.

Your best bet would be to flat or house share with someone else.........there is a few good sites for house or flat share, find a room .com which are very helpful and all over the uk.

You need to organise a safe place of stay before you come love.
You can do it all online !

Yes of course but it can take years to actually get a property ,some people with children have been on the waiting list forever so I wouldn't hold your breath.
The quicker you register the better..

Keep ringing the council and being nice to them. Make a relationship with the person you need to speak to. However they will not do anything until you are about to be evicted and then they will give you some accomodation. You might not like it, it may not be where you want to be but they WILL give you something even if it is just a B and B. And believe me it really will be at the moment you are evicted and NOT before as thet say you are adequetly housed until then.
Keep out of an abusive relationship and dont let hardship make you go back. In few years time you will be glad you got out.

I doubt you'll be eligible for council accommodation as they usually say you have to live in the area for about 3 years or have string ties to the area, like if all of your family lives there, or you've lived there all your life and only moved away for a short while. There's no harm in trying though - if you manage to get a job then you can argue that you have to be there. I think you're best chance is to find a job where you are now for a month or so, save up enough money for a deposit, then you can privately rent in England and you'll probably get housing benefit.

The UK already asks for all names and details of all legal residents for the electoral register, this is standard practice and nobody complains that this is "police state"

Others living here should be known to British authorities and I cannot see why not check now that illegal immigration has got out of hand.

The data that will be available to them will be the following:

1. The total credit he has at the moment (balance of loans + credit cards etc.)
2. The total unused credit facility (i.e. the difference between the credit limits on his credit cards and his actual balance)
3. History of late payments
4. History of registration on electoral roll

All these indicators will be used to 'score' how reliable he is and how well he manages his finances. i.e how likely he is to honour his guarantor liability should the need arise.
