Felicia Said:Please, could you tell me a website where I can find rooms to rent in London?
hope this helps
Derrick Said:Alternative ways to rent a room in Central London?
We Answered:Loot, craigslist, local college notice-boards in the area you want to live?
You do need to be aware that rooms and flats in London generally ARE 'ridiculously overpriced' particularly if you want to live centrally.
Helen Said:I am looking to rent room in london in zones one or two. Can people please give me the good areas i should go?
We Answered:Hi, zone 1-2 is very big, and each area has its own characteristic. The good area really depends on what kind of people are you? (artistic, fashionista, laid back, etc?) and how much budget do you have?
Generally, I would not recommend zone 1, unless have really BIG budget (and afford to live in Mayfair, Regents Park, Marylebone... because otherwise, you just end up living above shops and hearing people shouting because they have too much too drinks every weekend.
Avoid dodgy area in the East London, or North East.
Many young people prefer Angel & City area (Islington, but don’t go to Holloway), or Swiss Cottage, and Primrose Hill flat is not bad at all for North
Pimlico, Victoria, or South Bank is cool
Further down, you can go to Fulham (but District Line is sucks), and Greenwich is interesting, it’s a bit further, but the transport is good and you get a better quality of living for a cheaper rate.
Do the EXTENSIVE RESEARCH on your area further before you move in, living in London could be the best or the worst experience ever. Be safe.

We Answered:Battersea / Lavender Hill is nice with access to bus to sloane square / oxford street, mainline rail at Clapham Junction and a short bus ride to the tube at Clapham Common.
Clapham itself is nice for young professionals with 3 tube stations, buses and loads of nice bars and restaurants as well as a huge Sainsburys. There are also gyms and leisure centres as well as a funky independent cinema.
Docklands is nice and you have the DLR to take you into the City if you work in the financial district - there is a huge Asda on the Isle of Dogs and some shops in the Canary Wharf building. Not a lot socially there though.
Brixton is also a good option and slightly cheaper than Clapham with a tube station right on the Victoria Line, a mainline rail and lots of shops and bars. It's mainly an Afro/Caribbean area but not exclusively so you will find lots of exotic fruit and veg at the market on Electric Avenue. There's a large Tesco, a Sainsbury's local and an Iceland for food shopping as well as lots of market stalls.
Justin Said:how much does a single room rent cost in london?
We Answered:as everyone said, it largely depends on the area, check out gumtree.com but do NOT send any money until you visit the room by yourself. Do not send money online from Italy.
Patsy Said:Rooms to rent in London on the cheap?
We Answered:I assume from your avatar you are female? or a very nice looking feller!!!!
I either case there are many very obvious things to look out for, no need to go into details here, you should know by now.
To get back to your main question, any where on the underground route would be OK .
Tips? you need a day to travel around the outskirts, use the tube, get off at as many stops as you want and look in newspaper shop windows for ads. That's the cheapest way.
Cant really help you much because I don't know the object of your exercise, long holiday?
I was a contract worker, I stayed in a room just 10 minutes out of Harrow (where my office was) on the tube, large house, apart from myself it was full of Chinese restaurant workers , none could speak a word of English. The house had a communal kitchen , I would put myself a pan of stew on the cooker, they had a habit of coming inand inspecting the progress, dipping fingers in and adding whatever they thought it was short of!!! They didnt want to eat it, they just thought they would help me out!!
Perhaps not the sort of thing that would appeal to you??
My rent was £40 per week.
I was working with other contractors that were paying £350 a week for a self contained bed sit in Harrow, maybe more your style???
Sorry I cant be more specific but I dont really know what you are looking for, just make sure you dont get ripped off, try and avoid agents if you can and splash out a few quid to suss it out yourself , get into a cheap hotel for a couple of nights and ride the tube.
