Megan Said:

Anyone doing a Nursing conversion course - accommodation funding SCOTLAND?

We Answered:

SAAS should contribute towards the cost of accomodation as well as course fees etc

Don Said:

How do university/college students financially get by?

We Answered:

In short: A combination of loans, financial aid, scholarships, a job and living as cheaply as humanly possible. You will start to realize some grocery stores are much cheaper than others, you dont really need to get a coke every time you eat out, and that living 3 to a room isnt all that bad. As long as you watch your money carefully you will realize it can go much farther than you had thought. good luck!

Mathew Said:

Can you guide me in my UK student VISA queries?

We Answered:

Unless you can meet the minimum maintenance funds requirement, you will be refused a student visa as you MUST get 10 points for this section.

In addition to the first years tuition fee, the funds you need to prove that you have and show on your bank statement, or other financial statement (for at least 28 days prior to the date of your application and don't forget to allow for currency fluctuations) are:

If you are studying in Inner London - £7,200 ((9 months x £800) plus the first years tuition fee.
If you are studying elsewhere in the UK - £5,400 (9 months x £600) plus the first years tuition fee.

If you have already paid your tuition fee and for accommodation provided by the education provider, then you must include proof of these payments and can deduct these amounts from the maintenance fund requirements. You can only do this for payment direct to the education provider, not to anybody else. If you have paid for accommodation not supplied by the education provider you cannot deduct this from the required funds.

You do not need to show financial stability for a year prior to applying, only that the required funds have been in your account for at least 28 days prior to your application. You may also be asked to show proof of these funds again on entry to the UK, so make sure you have an up to date statement with you when you arrive showing these funds are still in your account.

Note that the figures are not approximate. You must ensure that you have at least these amounts. There is no leeway on these figures.

The money must be held in cash, so you will have to show a bank statement or savings account statement to prove that you have the money and that it is accessible to you.

We Answered:

Personally I am for Quality rather than quantity
The universities are awash with students who only attend as its the "Done" thing.Get a 2.2 degree & finish up bemoaning the fact that they cannot find a job befitting their years spent in learning.
As for costs.Until a couple of years ago I lived in Guildford .Surrey A university town
The 2 biggest car parks in town were Guildford college & Guildford University While pubs & clubs were heaving with students
