Read the paperwork, it will state this.

Refused a student bank account :(?

We Answered:

Well first off you need to find out what your credit report says. Since they refused you based upon it, you likely entitled to a free copy from the agency that did so (and you are entitled to a free copy once a year anyway). So get it and check it.

Second.. there are plenty of banks out there.. but if you are opening an account with the intention of overdrawing from the get-go, why not just go for a loan.. the interest rates are much better and you can budget your spending knowing the amount available.

However you handle it.. good luck...

.
If you are overdrawing consistently the bank may decide to canclel the privlidge - even if you are making regular payments. That means that you might suddenly have a batch of bounced checks.. Those can lead to tremendous expense and legal actions - usually at the worst possible time if Murphy has anything to do with it.

UCAS and Student Finance Queries?

We Answered:

For accommodation, you would contact the individual universities. However, when I applied through UCAS and accepted an offer at one of the universities, they sent everything to me, including accommodation forms, nearer the start date. I applied for my Masters course a couple of months before it started and after formally accepting the offer, I again received all the forms for accommodation. It may be best to speak to the accommodation services department of your firm choice university to find out the process for that particular university. I'm sure that they will be happy to help put your mind at rest. Good luck :-)

What grants/loans/assistance am I eligible for as a disabled student with a TBI (at Grand Valley State)?

We Answered:

As a grad of GVSU and GVSC and having been disabled when I got the second degree there - I don't think so. Michigan doesn't have any special grant programs and Grand Valley didn't either (that could have changed, but disability services would have known about it.)

You should be contacting Michigan Rehabilitation Services and see if they would help. There is also Michigan BIA (Brain Injury Alliance) based in Brighton that could give you a clue. Ask to speak to Cheryl Burda 800-772-4323.
