My daughter's fees, books, accommodation and food are $50,000 a year. She is in Minnesota (mid west). On top of that is travel and you would need health insurance. So the price of your four years would be roughly a house. Which would you prefer?

Edit: not only are all undergraduate courses four years but American students often follow this with a two year Masters to ensure they are sufficiently specialised in their field because they have to study so many non specialist subjects at undergrad.
